This is a free service for young people age 10 to 19 years who live in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales
This chat is part of the Barnardo’s School and Community Counselling Service in the Vale of Glamorgan. You can use this chat to access support, ask questions about Counselling and see if it is the right service for you.
This chat is not Counselling as it is time-limited, but we can arrange Counselling for you if you are interested.

Signposting
As this is a pilot the chat is available Wednesday evenings
from the 12th June to 17th July.
It will be available from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Wellbeing Support
- When you use this chat online we can support you with your wellbeing but it isn't a Counselling session. In the chat Counsellors can share tips that might help you in your situation and give you advice.
- If you use the chat more than once you might not chat with the same counsellor.
Access to the School and Community Based Counselling Service
- If you aren't sure whether Counselling is for you we can explore that in the chat.
- A counsellor will ask you if you would like to be referred into our School & Community Based Counselling Service and they can also help to do that in the chat.
- We don’t deliver Counselling through the chat but we can help you to access the service here
Signposting
- You may decide on the chat that Counselling isn't what you want need we can help you to work out what may suit you better.
- The Counsellor might recommend another service that can help you. We will always ask your permission before doing this.

Things to think about before you join a chat
- Are we the right support for you: this chat is open access so we can discuss your wellbeing and how to help you.
- Have a think about what you want to talk about, it might help to write things down.
- When you chat with a counsellor they might ask you some questions to check that you're safe.
- Chats normally last up to 20 minutes.
- A counsellor will ask you if you would like to be referred into our School & Community Based Counselling Service.
